Where did acrylic nails originate. Acrylic nails have actually been around for hundreds of years. Believe it or not the look of the nails has always been very important in many cultures. What is the history of acrylic nails.
Around the same time 3000 BC the first nail polish originated in ancient China. Gel and acrylic nails create a layer between the polish and your nail bed helping the polish last for weeks at a time without chipping. He broke a fingernail while at work and created a temporary replacement for it that looked quite real.
After expirements with different materials to perfect his invention he and his brother Tom patented a succesful version and started the company Patti Nails. Egyptian women used to wear really long fake nails. The story of acrylic nails because not with a beauty specialist but with a dentist named Fred Slack Jr.
At first dental acrylic was used but due to some people being allergic other methods were used and now with the development in resin chemistry it is possible to make a large variety of different nail enhancements which include sculpted nails nail wraps and tips. As it turns out he designed a faux nail that looked entirely too realistic. Chinese dipped their nails in this mixture for several hours or left it on to dry.
Acrylic nails have been in fashion for years but where did it all start. The first acrylic nails that were press-on were developed in the 1970s. Using aluminum foil and dental acrylic he created a platform to fix the nail which would soon go on to be patented as the first nail form.
